back to the baseline, back to basics
Nikon D3, 50mm, 2000iso, f/2.0, 1/800, manual Although basketball is one of my favorite sports to shoot, I feel like it is one of the sports that I need to work on shooting the most. I also feel like shooting with my strobes has limited the ways that I see when I shoot basketball. I [...]
UCI Basketball 2009-2010 Intro Video
This is a video I made to introduce the UCI Mens and Womens Basketball teams at UCI’s Shocktoberfest.
Mens Basketball : UCI vs UCR
I’ve been pretty busy lately and haven’t been shooting much. During a basketball game I shot about two weeks ago, I switched between using my strobes and using available light throughout the game depending on which side of the court I was on. Here are some shots from the game.
UCI Mens BBall vs CSUN…Blacked Out!

Last week our school got blacked out in Eater Nation t-shirts for the ESPNU televised basketball game against Cal State Northridge. UCI beat CSUN 73-51. Here are a few photos from the game:
looking away from the action…looking for more

For once, I wasn’t the staff photographer covering the basketball game. I knew this was my chance to try something different. I wanted to get a new angle that I had never tried to get. never rely on your remote camera

At the last basketball game I shot, I set up a remote camera on the shot-clock. It was a big game against our rivals, Cal State Long Beach, so I got there four hours early. I also dropped by earlier in the morning to make sure that none of the teams had an open shoot-around [...]
Overhead remote, Part II

Before last week I had only done one overhead remote at a basketball game. The first time I did one I was shooting at f/2.8 and ISO 3200. I made the mistake of focusing on the rim and didn’t get any shots of the players in focus. But it was ok. It was a new [...]
Basketball : UCI vs Oregon

I got there 3 hours early to setup a clock-cam. I was denied. When we play big team, its best to get there at least 4 hours early. I sure learned my lesson. I had to settle for a post-cam, which wasn’t too bad, but definitely not what I was hoping for. My friend Brandon [...]
