Shocktoberfest 2009
I’m always looking forward to shooting Shocktoberfest at UCI. This year the concert featured Cold Flamez, Shwayze, and Gym Class Heros. Personally I though it was better than last year. Check out the slide show below…
No.1 team crushed in the semi’s, i get caught…Utah here we come
Last Thursday was the MPSF Semifinals for Mens Volleyball. The No.1 ranked team UCI was playing No.5 USC. I really wanted to get a direct overhead shot of one of the UCI players serving. I had gone up in the catwalks prior to the start of the game to check out locations I could shoot [...]
dwight howard inspired concept, empty arena & lots of equipment
Last tuesday I got a text message from the Umar the sports editor, “Can u meet me tomorrow at 3 at the bren? For carson clark feature photo?”. I was hoping he would call or text. On Monday I saw the sheet of paper with the page requests that the section editors fill out. Under [...]
Keeping things interesting, shooting from above, playing with light

Something away from the action. Something with a clean background. Something that people can’t see on their own. I had [...]
never rely on your remote camera

At the last basketball game I shot, I set up a remote camera on the shot-clock. It was a big game against our rivals, Cal State Long Beach, so I got there four hours early. I also dropped by earlier in the morning to make sure that none of the teams had an open shoot-around [...]
experimenting with volleyball

This past week was the first time that I shot volleyball with my strobes. When I put my strobes in the Bren Events Center earlier this school year, I took into consideration that I would be shooting volleyball at some point. I found out which side UCI would start so that I could position my [...]
