Hiking and processing

A big part of being a photographer that often goes unrecognized in my opinion is the post-processing. When I was shooting most assignments in college I did not have the opportunity to process my images. Now I have no direction and a lot of experimentation to work with. The post-processing applied to a photo can control the feeling that it gives to the viewer.
Homemade Sushi Round One

I recently picked up a 24mm f/1.4 for my 5D and had a hard time deciding between that and the 35mm. I tend to prefer a wider lens so I decided to try out the 24mm for a while. Having a prime is something I wanted because zoom lenses make me lazy and this will force me to move more and work harder for my photos.
The Daily #7 – Up Tea Party

Tea parties. What goes on at a tea party? Isn’t that what little girls and the Queen of England have in common? Those were my thoughts before I attended my first tea party this past weekend.
The Daily #6 – Presidio

I was out in the Presidio in San Francisco yesterday and had about 10 minutes free before I needed to be somewhere. Knowing that I would be tired when I got home later that night and that I have almost exhausted all possible portraits in my house, I grabbed my camera bag from the trunk of my car and headed over for a view of the Golden Gate Bridge.
The Daily #4 – Circus Banana French Toast

Circus Banana French Toast. There are two things I have to do each day: eat and take a photo. When possible, its best to knock both out at the same time…especially when it looks so delicious.
The Daily #3 – Overhead

I had two hours free in the middle of the day and I was coming up blank on the drawing boards. After going to work and getting home at close to 11pm I knew I had to shoot something. Knowing that I only had one backdrop paper at my house and that I used it a couple days ago for a shoot I decided to shoot against a red wall in one of the rooms in my house.
The Daily #1 – Back to Basics

I haven’t been taking many photos lately due to the craziness that is my life. Between working two jobs and picking up some hobbies (trampoline class, rock climbing, geocaching, and a few others) I have gotten lazy and put photography on the back burner. I feel like I’ve begun to fall into a slump in terms of my photography, although its also a feeling of becoming rusty. I’ve see a lot of people do “365″ projects and I have always considered doing it. I’ve decided to pick myself up and get back on the creative learning track. My 365 Project aka “The Daily” starts today.
When in Rome…bring an extra battery
This past summer I went to Valencia, Spain and stayed with my girlfriend while she did research. While over there we also took a trip to Rome. My camera charger broke due to the voltage difference and I didn’t notice until I went to charge my battery on our first night in Rome. I took [...]
