<p style="clear: both">Usually I&#8217;m pretty lazy when it comes to shooting soccer and I end up posting myself near the goals and I don&#8217;t really move around too much. Its easy to shoot from there, I get faces, good action, the ball, and it never fails. The one thing that I seem to miss out on a lot is headers. The ball is usually kicked to far to get a usable shot, or the ball is kicked from the other side and I get photos of the players backs. I decided to work the sidelines a little more than usual and came back with some images that are a little different than my usual.</p>

<p style="clear: both">Throughout this week I have been switching cameras every couple days. I&#8217;ve been shooting with a Canon 5D MKII for a video project that I&#8217;ve been working on. When it came time to shoot my soccer assignment I forgot that I had lent my D3 to a friend. I figured that shooting soccer with the 5D would be nice, and it was&#8230;it just wasn&#8217;t as nice as shooting with a D3 and a 300mm prime. </p>
<p><span id="more-2441"></span></p>
<p style="clear: both">However, the colors on that camera are amazing and photos were sharp. Nothing to complain about.</p>
<p style="clear: both"><a href="http://www.scottroeder.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/10-14-09_Blog_Mens_Soccer_Roeder_2.jpg" class="image-link" rel="lightbox[2441]" title="uci soccer + 5d mark II...missing my D3"><img class="linked-to-original" src="http://www.scottroeder.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/10-14-09_Blog_Mens_Soccer_Roeder_2-thumb.jpg" height="463" align="left" width="651" style=" display: inline; float: left; margin: 0 10px 10px 0;" /></a><br style="clear: both" /><strong>Canon 5D MKII, 70-200mm @ 200mm, 4000iso, f/2.8, 1/640, manual</p>
<p></strong>Pumped up? I would have to say yes.</p>
<p style="clear: both"><a href="http://www.scottroeder.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/10-14-09_Blog_Mens_Soccer_Roeder_3.jpg" class="image-link" rel="lightbox[2441]" title="uci soccer + 5d mark II...missing my D3"><img class="linked-to-original" src="http://www.scottroeder.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/10-14-09_Blog_Mens_Soccer_Roeder_3-thumb.jpg" height="459" align="left" width="651" style=" display: inline; float: left; margin: 0 10px 10px 0;" /></a><br style="clear: both" /><strong>Canon 5D MKII, 70-200mm @ 200mm, 4000iso, f/2.8, 1/640, manual</strong></p>
<p>UC Irvine&#8217;s Amani Walker usually makes a photo interesting with acrobatic athleticism. </p>
<p style="clear: both"><a href="http://www.scottroeder.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/10-14-09_Blog_Mens_Soccer_Roeder_4.jpg" class="image-link" rel="lightbox[2441]" title="uci soccer + 5d mark II...missing my D3"><img class="linked-to-original" src="http://www.scottroeder.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/10-14-09_Blog_Mens_Soccer_Roeder_4-thumb.jpg" height="432" align="left" width="651" style=" display: inline; float: left; margin: 0 10px 10px 0;" /></a><br style="clear: both" /><strong>Canon 5D MKII, 70-200mm @ 200mm, 4000iso, f/2.8, 1/640, manual<br /></strong></p>
<p style="clear: both"><strong><br /></strong>I was pleased to get the shot below of Amani Walker below sliding for a goal attempt. Its seems rare to get a shot of the player attempting to score a goal while being close enough to get the goalie in the photo. I think it turned out well.</p>
<p style="clear: both"><a href="http://www.scottroeder.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/10-14-09_Blog_Mens_Soccer_Roeder_5.jpg" class="image-link" rel="lightbox[2441]" title="uci soccer + 5d mark II...missing my D3"><img class="linked-to-original" src="http://www.scottroeder.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/10-14-09_Blog_Mens_Soccer_Roeder_5-thumb.jpg" height="445" align="left" width="651" style=" display: inline; float: left; margin: 0 10px 10px 0;" /></a><br style="clear: both" /><strong>Canon 5D MKII, 70-200mm @ 150mm, 4000iso, f/2.8, 1/640, manual</strong></p>
<p>At most times during the game I wished that I had a longer lens. Even when I took this celebration photo below I had wished that I had a longer lens. When I went to edit this photo I realized that it is also a good dejection photo that shows the losing team in the background.</p>
<p style="clear: both"><a href="http://www.scottroeder.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/10-14-09_Blog_Mens_Soccer_Roeder_6.jpg" class="image-link" rel="lightbox[2441]" title="uci soccer + 5d mark II...missing my D3"><img class="linked-to-original" src="http://www.scottroeder.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/10-14-09_Blog_Mens_Soccer_Roeder_6-thumb.jpg" height="392" align="left" width="651" style=" display: inline; float: left; margin: 0 10px 10px 0;" /></a><br style="clear: both" /><strong>Canon 5D MKII, 70-200mm @ 200mm, 4000iso, f/2.8, 1/640, manual<br /></strong></p>
