The Daily #5 – Boy Scout

The Daily #5 - Boy Scout

I’m quickly running out of things to shoot inside my house by myself. Lucky I have a bunch of random clothes, outfits, and costumes that should be able to keep me busy for at least a few more shoots.

The Daily #3 – Overhead

The Daily #3 - Overhead

I had two hours free in the middle of the day and I was coming up blank on the drawing boards. After going to work and getting home at close to 11pm I knew I had to shoot something. Knowing that I only had one backdrop paper at my house and that I used it a couple days ago for a shoot I decided to shoot against a red wall in one of the rooms in my house.

The Daily #2 – INTIMIDATION

The Daily #2 - INTIMIDATION

Sometimes on my lunch break I go home and prepare for a zombie attack. I’ll be honest, I don’t know much about killing zombies….but I do know about a little thing called INTIMIDATION. I don’t know many zombies that are willing to challenge me when I’m looking like this….

first car photoshoot, restricted areas, and tricky lighting

I am now driving a different car. A Honda Civic Hatchback. I was bored the other night and decided to go out to the unactive naval base in Alameda and take some shots. Usually the parking lots with fences are closed but for some reason one of the gates was open when I was over [...]

winning the chance to be on the other side of the camera

The 3rd annual UCI Bookstore Photolympics photography contest was held this year. I missed the competition last year, not hearing anything about it until after the competition was over.

NCAA College Baseball Regionals – Irvine, Ca – Day 3

NCAA College Baseball Regionals - Irvine, Ca - Day 3

Sunday. We finally had a game while the sun was still out, which meant two things: 1) our team had lost a previous game and had to win all the rest to not get eliminated, 2) better for taking photos (ISO 200 rather than 1600). The game was scheduled to start at 4pm and I [...]

back to baseball…another shot at homeplate action & post-game fireworks

back to baseball...another shot at homeplate action & post-game fireworks

I honestly expected to be shooting a lot more baseball this year. Last year I was pretty much the only person at the newspaper who would shoot the games. This year I have been busier and the newer staff photographers have been more inclined to shoot sports.

Just when I though I had it all figured out, I learn something new.

never rely on your remote camera

never rely on your remote camera

At the last basketball game I shot, I set up a remote camera on the shot-clock. It was a big game against our rivals, Cal State Long Beach, so I got there four hours early. I also dropped by earlier in the morning to make sure that none of the teams had an open shoot-around [...]

Basketball : UCI vs Oregon

Basketball : UCI vs Oregon

I got there 3 hours early to setup a clock-cam. I was denied. When we play big team, its best to get there at least 4 hours early. I sure learned my lesson. I had to settle for a post-cam, which wasn’t too bad, but definitely not what I was hoping for. My friend Brandon [...]
