Talkin’ bout Practice: Pinball Preview

August 9, 2013 in Photography, Work

Yesterday I went out to the Pacific Pinball Museum in Alameda to shoot engagement/pre-wedding photos for my friend Melissa and her fiancee Robert. When we first sat down months ago to talk about me shooting their wedding the idea came up to shoot photos at the museum a couple weeks before. Having been there once before I knew that it would be an awesome location to shoot at where we could take some truly unique photos.

I was lucky to be assisted by my friend/photographer/assistant-extraordinaire Michael Chen. Michael seriously is an amazing assistant and takes being prepared to the next level.

Do you ever worry about performing under pressure? The last thing you want is for a client to question your confidence or abilities. You are the professional and they are trusting (and paying you) to take the lead. So how do we prepare to make sure a shoot goes smoothly? We talking’ bout practice. We test out almost each shot before the models/couples arrive, then when we get them in place we already know what we are looking for and just add in the lighting. We go in with a plan and execute it. Check out a couple sneak peek photos below to see how our test shots translated into the final product.
